Annual First 5 CARES Conference

First 5 CARES, Comprehensive Approaches to Raising Educational Standards, is sponsoring their annual conference at the Westin San Francisco Airport in Millbrae, California on April 28 & 29, 2008.  CARES is a program of First 5 California that provides professional development and educational training services in 44 counties to early childhood teachers and family child care providers.  The CARES Training & Technical Assistance Project offers services to CARES administrators/partners to improve the quality of their programs.  CARES and ELF libraries are natural partners in their mission to serve child care providers.  For more information on CARES and the April conference access  http://cares.edgateway.net/cs/cares/print/docs/cares/home.htm

Archived Webcast Addressing Ways to Support Parents & Caregivers

Association of Children's Librarians of Northern California 2008 Institute


The Association of Children's Librarians of Northern California's 2008 Institute is on a topic that is very near and dear to our ELF hearts: Baby Bounces: Books and Music for the Very Young featuring Rosemary Wells, Hap Palmer, Virginia Walter & Ashley Wolff. The institute will be on Friday, April 25, 2008 from 9:30-3:30 at the San Francisco Public Library's Koret Auditorium.

LA Conference on "The Fatherhood Solution" June 12, 2008

First 5 LA is sponsoring "In Harms Way 2008: The Fatherhood Solution" a confererence to explore research on fatherhood and the impact of current social and economic factors.  Topics that will be addressed include the impact of war, family violence, children and divorce, incarceration, bringing fatherhood programs to communities, policy, and more.  The one-day conference will be held at the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 12, 2008.  For more information and registration check   http://www.childrensinstitute.org/inharmsway/

Webcast - Supporting Parents & Caregivers to Enhance Early Learning
