Best Wishes

During the past two and a half years, the California State Library and North Bay Cooperative Library System have had the privilege of working with Judy Klikun, first as Coordinator for the Reach Out and Read and public library collaborative grants then as statewide Project Coordinator for the Early Learning with Families (ELF) @ Your Library initiative.  Judy has brought years of experience and expertise to these endeavors.  She was instrumental in helping to craft the vision and steward the implementation of the ELF initiative, bringing extensive knowledge, great heart and contagious enthusiasm to this work, helping public libraries to achieve the most effective and rewarding outcomes for the young children and families they serve.

Judy has accepted a new position as Manager, Partners in Reading for San Jose Public Library and will be leaving her role with ELF effective September 5, 2008.  We will miss Judy and her "energizer bunny" energy in the ELF initiative, but we wish her all the best in her new endeavor and are delighted to know that she will continue to be a part of the California public library community.

Please join us in wishing Judy all the best.

Administrative Change

Dear ELF colleagues,

I am writing to notify you that I have accepted another job and will be resigning from my position with the ELF initiative effective the first week of September.  Suzanne Flint, Library Programs Consultant with the State Library, will be your primary contact.  She can be reached at sflint@library.ca.gov or by phone at 916-651-9796.

Over the past two years ELF libraries throughout the state have accomplished many innovative early learning services, programs, and products for caregivers and families with young children.  I commend you for the good work you have done and have yet to do for California families.  In FY2008-09, ELF will continue to provide support and offer more opportunities for libraries to share information and take advantage of training opportunities.

It's been a great experience working with you and sharing in your enthusiasm, talent, and commitment.  I am continually impressed by all you accomplish and the significant impact that you make in your communities.  Your generous spirit contributed to many ideas crossing disciplines, departments and library jurisdictions.  I and many libraries have benefited from your openness and willingness to not only share what is working, but to challenge the norm and identify issues that are germane to our work.

I hope to see you at future library events and conferences and possibly collaborate again since I am staying in the library community.  I will be working at San Jose Public Library managing their Partners in Reading Program.

I've learned a tremendous amount from you.  Many thanks.

The very best to you and the ELFers on your staff,
Judy
